September 25th 2007 - Glass Butter Beach is a huge success!

The final stop of the Vans Roccoco Rail Tour took place last weekend on the Main Beach as part of the first annual Glass Butter Beach Event.
The event, which kicked off down by the groins on Saturday afternoon, proved to be hugely popular a crowd of all ages gathered on the beach to watch some of the best wakeboarding around in one of the best locations.

A team of local boys have been hard at work all week constructing a series of tricky rails and obstacles, which the then wakeboarders had to hit being towed in by a jet-ski, in a series of ten minute heats. The winner if each heat was chosen by the other riders, based on the technical skill shown. The qualifiers then battled it out in the finals on Sunday afternoon. The crowds loved the action and freebies such as beach balls and stickers from event sponsors Glass Butter, Vans and Hyperlite.

Saturday's entertainment then moved to The Sandpiper for an evening of music and mayhem. The Glass Butter Tropical Beach Party went off with a bang and those that had bought a ticket to this sell out event were treated to performances from local bands, The Lazy Boys, The 420's and Jonty Storey aka DJ Play.

Crowds returned to the beach on Sunday afternoon, to see Birmingham based Matt Crowhurst take the top spot following a hotly contested final with southerner Lee De Buse. Aussie Eban Escott took third place. The prize giving took place that evening at Abersoch Powerboat Club, where Joel, DJ Play and Brighton based band Ikoma treated the crowds to some amazing performances.

This is the first time such an event has taken place and it proved to be hugely popular and a huge success, and certainly livened up an autumn weekend in Abersoch. For more information on Glass Butter events be sure to check out www.glassbutter.co.uk
