Pwllheli is the unofficial capital and market town of the Llyn Peninsula. Pwllheli itself means "salt water pool" and is full of character, with narrow streets, shops and cafes.
There are two award winning beaches here offering 5 miles of sand and shingle and a recently refurbished promenade.
There is a weekly market on the Maes each Wednesday and plenty of shops.

A large marina has been built in the harbour, with hundreds of yachts berthed there. Facilities are excellent and International events are hosted here including in 2001, the One Ton Cup. Pwllheli Sailing Club is situated next to the marina, along with several boat yards.

Other facilities include a cinema, a well equipped modern leisure centre, golf course and large selection of pubs
