Once again 'by Hook or by Crutch' The Oriental Jazz Band from Holland will be there. We hope you will come and join us.

Blwyddyn Newydd Dda i bawb. Rydym ni'n hynod brysur, ond o'r diwedd dyma wybodaeth bellach ar wyl eleni.
Yn gyntaf dyma ddau hysbysiad pwysig: Oherwydd amgylchiadau y tu hwnt i'n rheolaeth, ni all Richard Bennett fynychu'r wyl ac, yn bwysig iawn, Malcom ac Isobel fydd yn arwain y sesiwn jamio arbennig yn hwyr brynhawn Sul yn Neuadd y Pentref (lle bydd 'te bach' ar gael). Mae'r criw ifanc gwych, Amy Roberts (Reeds), Jamie Brownfield (Trwmped) a Jack Cotteril (Drymiau) wedi cytuno i chwarae yn y sesiwn. Hoffem fwy o gerddorion ac estynnir croeso i unrhyw un sydd â diddordeb ymuno â'r tri. Dewch, os gwelwch yn dda, i glywed mwy o gerddorion arbennig yn perfformio brynhawn Sadwrn yn Neuadd y Pentref, yn brawf bod dyfodol cerddoriaeth Jas yn ddiogel.
Unwaith eto bydd amrywiaeth cyffroes o fandiau ac unawdwyr, rhai yn ymddangos am y tro cyntaf a rhai yn dychwelyd am ymweliad arall. Eleni bydd tri band ardderchog o Enkhuizen yn ymuno â ni - pob un yn chwarae mathau gwahanol o jas. Mae llawer o'r cerddorion a'u teuluoedd wedi cefnogi'r wyl ers ei blwyddyn gyntaf, 2001. Gobeithiwn y bydd y gêm bêl droed ar y traeth, Prydain yn erbyn Yr Iseldiroedd (enillwyr 2007), yn cael ei chynnal eto.
Mae lleoliadau'r cyngherddau wedi eu trefnu gan gynnwys patio tafarn y Faenol, lle bydd y cerddorion stryd gwych yn perfformio. Bydd cerddoriaeth yn cael ei pherfformio ar y stryd ac ar y traeth hefyd o bosibl.
Yn ogystal â'r gerddoriaeth ardderchog dros y penwythnos cynhelir yr Orymdaith, y Gwasanaeth Gospel, Cystadlaethau a cherddoriaeth ar y stryd. Bydd nwyddau ar gael a bydd llwybrau cerdded yn cael eu hyrwyddo. Mae hon yn ardal o Harddwch Naturiol Eithriadol felly beth am i chi fanteisio ar y cyfle i anturio a mwynhau popeth sydd gan Benrhyn Llyn i'w gynnig.

Lerpwl yw Dinas Celfyddyd 2008, ac mae Gwyl Jas Abersoch yn falch o fod wedi ei hadnabod fel un o'r prif ddigwyddiadau blynyddol cysylltiedig â'r flwyddyn o ddathliadau.

Allwn ni ddweud dim mwy ar hyn o bryd, mae llawer o waith trefnu ar ôl i'w wneud, ond edrychwn ymlaen at eich croesawu i'n Gwyl gyfeillgar a gwych.

Happy New Year to all. We are "afflicted with busyness" but at last here is further information on this year's festival.
Firstly here are two important notices, due to unforeseen circumstances Richard Bennett cannot be at the event, and, very importantly, Malcolm and Isobel will be leading the special jam session late Saturday afternoon in the Village Hall (afternoon teas available). Already agreeing to play in the session are the wonderful young Amy Roberts (Reeds), Jamie Brownfield (Trumpet), and Jack Cotteril (Drums).
More musicians are wanted and welcome to join them.
Please come to hear many more fine young musicians playing all Saturday afternoon in the Village Hall, proving the future of Jazz is in good hands.
Once again there will be an exciting range of bands and soloists, some appearing for the first time and some returning for another visit. This year we are going "Treble Dutch" with three excellent bands from Enkhuizen - all playing different styles of music. Many of the musicians and their families have supported Abersoch Jazz from the start in 2001.
We hope the festival beach football match, Britain versus Netherlands (winners 2007), will take place again.
The usual venues have been agreed including the Vaynol patio for the brilliant buskers, there will also be street and maybe beach music.
In addition to all the wonderful music over the weekend there will be the Parade, the Gospel Service, Competitions, Merchandise, Street music and walks. This is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty so why not take this opportunity to explore and enjoy all the Llyn Peninsula has to offer.

Liverpool is the City of Culture for 2008, Abersoch Jazz Festival is proud to have been identified as one of the main annual events linked to the year of celebrations.

What more can we say at this stage, there is a lot more organising to do, but we are looking forward to welcoming you all to our brilliant, friendly festival.

The weekend is packed with so many excellent musicians and activities that we have once again set a 'Challenge'! How to plan an itinary, by jazz bus or on foot, to experience all the bands of your choice?
The venue circular route will be Riverside Marquee, 5 degrees West, SCYC Bar and Cove Restaurant, Golf Club Marquee, the Egryn and the Village Hall. The Vaynol Patio is the place to hear the brilliant buskers over the weekend, the Sandpiper Patio is the venue for the popular Seindorf yr Oakeley on Sunday afternoon and there are three opportunities to catch the Bermo Batala Samba Band on Saturday, near the Riverside Marquee, in the centre of the Village or on the Beach! Check in the programme key guide for venue sessions and activity timings. Central for all information is our Tourist Information Office and welcoming volunteer Jazz staff.
All our venues are providing refreshments appropriate for "jazzers on the move" and need your support.
There are seven bands visiting Abersoch for the first time. We welcome

The Big Easy Rascals
From Holland strengthen the links with the lovely town of Enkhuizen and its Jazz Festival. It is a newly formed band playing powerful swinging jazz music as in the "Big Easy" New Orleans.

Martin Bennett's Old Green River Band
Regarded as one of the most entertaining bands on the circuit, exciting to watch as well as listen to and sure to get any dancers present on their feet.

Richard Leach's 7 Stars of Jazz
A hugely popular band based in the Midlands has a style reminiscent of the Alex Welsh Band, one of Britain's foremost Chicago/Dixieland types.

Spats Langham Hot Combination
Include some well known classics from 1924 to 1936, revive some seldom played tunes and pay tribute to the men and women who sang them.

The Peter Frank Allstars Band
Is based in West Yorkshire and has been in existence for nine years . Peter Frank manages to keep this bunch of wildly different stylists together.

Red Stripe
Plays a driving boogie piano style and taken his infections show all over the world. Don't miss this exciting and high energy performance.
Last but not least, those of you who have been lucky enough to visit the wonderful New Orleans cannot help but to have "tapped their feet" to the lively Cajun/Zideco style sounds in certain areas of the city.

Cajun Denbo
Are based in Bangor, North Wales are a 6 piece band who play the Cajun and Zideco dance rhythms usually associated with the South West Louisiana. They are unique because much of their material is performed in their native Welsh rather than Cajun French language.
The new visiting bands alone provide a wide variety of exciting jazz music, add to that the rest of the musicians and you end up with a great programme to negotiate!!
Don't forget the parade, Gospel Service, young musicians, teas, jazz poster exhibition in the Village Hall, merchandise in the Golf Club Marquee and beautiful walks to do in your "spare time"!
Have a safe and pleasant journey, some roadworks are planned as usual but can be avoided by taking one of the beautiful scenic routes or checking on timing.
