July 12 2013 It is no exaggeration to say that it has been a rather incredible week of summer weather here in Abersoch with very warm or hot temperatures and strong sunshine. This morning, the latest weather charts from 2 of the main global computer models (GFS & ECMWF) are both showing that, after a moderation in temperatures for Sunday / Monday, the heatwave type conditions may return from Tuesday or Wednesday onwards and last through the weekend of the 20th / 21st July, which is the start of the school holidays for most. The snapshot of the chart to the left is the ECMWF one for Sunday 21st July and if that becomes reality, temperatures in the high 20's C will be expected on the coast and above 30C inland. Our daily weather forecast will be keeping a very close eye on this, to see if these extended outlook charts actually do become reality. |

July 10 2013 It has been a hot week here in Abersoch with the warmest July temperatures recorded since the heatwave back in July 2006. Both Monday and today have seen temperatures above 27C, which is about as warm as it gets for our peninsula location. The fine weather looks like it could last for another week at least, with temperatures coming down a bit, but still loads better than we have seen at this time of year for the last few summers, which is great news for this weekend's Wakestock Festival that starts on Friday. The daily weather forecast will be keeping an eye on the extended outlook for the start of the main school holidays. |

July 04 2013 A potentially memorable spell of weather is on its way to our shores! The real warmth looks like arriving on Sunday, but Friday and Saturday should be mostly sunny and warm too. The weather outlook charts are by far the best for our area in July since 2006. Temperatures may well be up to the mid 20's C during next week and the charts continue to show a fine and very warm Wakestock Festival weekend. Our daily weather forecast will be keeping a close eye on how long this potentially wondeful spell of beach weather will last. |

April 22 2013 Impressive plans for a new 42 bedroom hotel along with a spa facility, restaurant/bar and 18 apartments have been submitted for planning approval. The proposals have been welcomed as potentially providing the village with a much needed boost, as the number of serviced accommodation beds has been in steady decline in the area in recent years. The development, if approved, will replace the derelict White House Hotel building that is located on the road into the village. You can find more info on the application at the Gwynedd Council website using reference C13/0403/39/LL and the Cambrian News also have some info the development on their website here. |
April 22 2013 Abersoch RNLI's first call out of 2013 was to co-operate with paramedics to transfer a seriously ill person from an awkward sea shore location to a more accessible one from which a heli-med would be able to take him to hospital. The incident took place on Saturday at SCYC. For more details and to view the RNLI helmet cam video of the incident - visit the RNLI website by clicking here. |

March 14 2013 The Wales Online website is reporting that Abersoch is going to be listed in the top 10 places to live in Wales in the next edition of the Sunday Times. The Abersoch area is a spectacular place to live with an almost unique mix of landscapes including mountains, beaches, bays and islands. Our location on the Llyn Peninsula, means that Abersoch main beach faces east, making the north end of Cardigan Bay look almost like a huge lake with a backdrop of hills and mountains and the picturesque St. Tudwal's Islands a short distance offshore.

March 10 2013 Abersoch Golf Club have invited a private company to run their beach car park, using a car registration number plate camera system. The company that has been invited to manage the car park, ParkingEye Ltd, make their money by sending out demands for large sums of money (£100 according to the application), for minor parking transgressions, sometimes leading to demands from a debt collection company.
If you are concerned by this proposal, you can comment on Parking Eye Ltd's 2 planning applications at the following 2 links: |

February 21 2013 Readers of this website will remember the recent controversy over proposals by Gwynedd Council to ban dogs from most of Abersoch's beaches. The proposals were then put to the public in the form of a consultation, which turned into a farce as some of the information given to the public was incorrect. The council then backtracked and produced a further consultation with a proposal to leave things pretty much as they are. Finally, this week, the Gwynedd Council Cabinet has met and agreed to keep things as they are in Abersoch with the current zones in the harbour and the SCYC to Golf Slipway main beach zone, to be enforced between 1st April and 30th September. |
